Types of Kidney Cancer

Most cancers that occur in the kidneys are known as renal cell cancers (or renal adenocarcinoma). This booklet describes the tests and treatments for this type of disease.

A rarer type of kidney cancer is known as transitional cell cancer, which arises from the cells lining the centre, or pelvis of the kidney. The tests and treatment for transitional cell cancer may be slightly different.
