Diagnosis of Kidney Cancer

Usually, you begin by seeing your family doctor (GP), who will examine you and arrange for any further tests or x-rays that may be necessary. Your GP will probably ask for a sample of your urine to test, and may also take a blood sample to check the function of your kidneys. Your GP may need to refer you to hospital for some of these tests and for expert advice and treatment.

At the hospital, the doctor will take your full medical history before doing a physical examination. A blood test and chest x-ray may be taken to check your general health.
